Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The increase in the marketed production of cow's milk in our country - that is to say “deliveries” plus “direct sales” - which began in November 2009, continued, albeit with different intensity, until June 2012; in fact, starting from the following month of July, national production shows a significant drop on an annual basis. Therefore, after two consecutive campaigns characterized by substantial increases, which bring production from 10.88 to 11.25 million tons, a 2012/13 adjustment follows, with production falling to 11.20 million tons, down of 43 thousand tons, equal to 0.4%. Therefore, with reference to the last two decades, the national production of the campaign ended March 31 last is at levels lower only than that of the previous campaign and that of 2002/03. At the same time, it continues, at a still rather sustained average annual rate, but in constant decline, equal to 3.7% for the last campaign, the exit of farms from milk production. This rate since the beginning of the new millennium has fluctuated between -9.6% in 2000/01 and -3.7% in the campaign ended March 31 last.
