Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The decline in the commercialized production of cow's milk in our country, which began in July 2012, continues until October of the following year; in fact, starting from the following month of November, national production once again shows a significant positive trend on an annual basis. Therefore, after two consecutive campaigns characterized by substantial increases, which bring the production from 10.88 to 11.25 million tons, a 2012/13 and a 2013/14 follows with the production that drops first to 11.20 and then to 11.16 million tons; in the campaign ended on March 31 last year, in fact, there was a decrease compared to 2012/13 of 43 thousand tons, equal to 0.4%. Therefore, with reference to the last two decades, the national production of the campaign ended March 31, 2014 is lower only than that of the two previous campaigns and that of 2002/03. At the same time, it continues, at a still rather sustained average annual rate, but in constant decline, equal for the last campaign to 3.6%, the exit of farms from milk production. This rate since the beginning of the new millennium has fluctuated between -9.6% in 2000/01 and -3.6% in the campaign ended March 31 last.
