Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] After 4 marketing campaigns characterized by more or less significant downturns, which brought the commercialized production of Italian cow's milk, from 11.15 to 10.88 million tons, followed by 2 campaigns with productions in marked increase, respectively +1 , 2% and + 2.2%. 2011/2012 recorded an increase of 245 thousand tons: this is a real turnaround, favored also by the loosening of the production quota restriction. Therefore, national production in 2011/12 is at levels lower than that of the 1990/91 campaign. At the same time, the exit of farms from milk production continues at a still rather sustained average annual rate of 4.0% for the last campaign. This rate since the beginning of the new millennium has fluctuated between -9.6% in 2000/01 and -4.0 in the last campaign.
