Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Teachers play an important role in detecting and reporting child abuse. However, there are significant barriers to reporting maltreatment and most teachers report never having made an abuse report. Among the major deterrents, able to influence the ability of teachers to report cases of suspected abuse, are: insufficient knowledge on how to detect and report abuse (a lack of awareness of the indicators of child abuse and reporting procedures) and the fear of legal consequences and disapproval from the child's family members and colleagues.
