Abstract
The present article assesses the link between ethics and politics, in the light of growing concerns from the discipline of bioethics. It focuses on the problem, both ethical and political, of the proliferation of rights, in particular the "patients' rights". I discuss the criticism by Wolgast's of possible harms of patients' rights and point out their positive aspects in the light of the concept of "Human Rights" whic in itself is not without problems.
