Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The chapter analyzes the defense policy of the Trump administration in an attempt to evaluate the elements of discontinuity with respect to the long-term trajectory of American military policy. In particular, it takes into consideration some empirical indicators such as defense spending, troop deployment and the strategic vision underlying these choices. Despite the rhetoric that has permeated the mandate of President Trump, the conclusion reached by the chapter is that in this area the elements of continuity are by no means secondary to the turnaround so proclaimed by the former president.
