Abstract
This paper shows the results of our historical investigation of the prefaces of some Franco-Italian bilingual dictionaries. We deal in particular with the dictionaries of the late 20th century. We examine whether their prefaces treat problems of phraseology and, if so, what kind of information is presented (such as phraseological terminology and the position in the entry). Our investigation shows a growing interest in idioms and in the problems they raise to contemporary bilingual lexicographers concerning the selection of entries, the microstructural organization and the choice of equivalents.
