Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay intends to reopen a reflection on the political dimension of illness and disability. The human person, when marked by fragility and vulnerability, finds himself exposed to various forms of stigma, which become evident in crisis situations. The request for social recognition and the introduction of various forms of classification, which should guarantee and extend the processes of inclusion and care, nullify the obfuscation of the meaning itself and the value of the human person, reduced to his functions. The identity of the sick person, and of the person with disability, remains problematic in the complex dialectic of mutual recognition when the normativity of the person himself is missing as an alterity and an irreducible subjectivity.
