Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The specialty lexicon is the most dynamic dimension of the modern history of the Spanish language. The impetuous advance of science and technology that occurs in the Spain of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries gives rise to a multitude of new concepts and the need to name them. This neological production had an impact on the lexicography that, in the middle of a crucial stage of its evolution, the problem of cataloging these new knowledge arose; at that moment the debate began about the technicalities that should appear in a general dictionary. The purpose of the contribution is to study the different penetration of a technical lexicon, in general academic and non-academic dictionaries, throughout its evolution. Specifically, I will analyze the reception of the lexicon of leather tanning and dressing in the repertoires of the 18th and 19th centuries, a time of transformation of traditional art into modern industry. The diachronic cut of the study will allow to carry out the following objectives: - Trace the trends of inclusion of a technical lexicon in the different stages of its progress towards a modern industrial conception; - Evidence the sections and subsections that receive a greater or lesser lexicographic reception; - Analyze the evolution of the lexicographic treatment of some significant terms.
