Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The preaching of the deacon Arialdo shortly after the middle of the eleventh century gave rise to the ecclesiastical reform movement of the pataria, which in the struggle undertaken against the archbishops of Milan found a powerful interlocutor in the Roman papacy.
