The essay analyzes Lucio Campiani’s (Mantova, 1822-1914) musical works, in connection with the events of the Risorgimento. Campiani has been a central figure in the Mantuan music scene (in the opera theatre, in churches, in music schools, in civil ceremonies) and, consequently, his compositions can offer a wealth of insights
