Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay outlines an evolution of the relationship between Italian cinema and modernity that knows a first significant flowering in the belle epoque (a modernity designed by the cultural and artistic elites and that cinema makes popular) and is reassembled giving itself structures, means and strategies in the Fascist period. (modernity "imagined" by the media, in a largely backward Italy), before exploding with arrogance in the second post-war period.
