Abstract
The paper aims at understanding how operations managers assess the manufacturing and logistics performances of their plants and why they focus their improvement programmes on some of them. After a review of the literature on operational performances and on performance measurement systems, the paper presents the findings of a multiple case-study research, carried out on three Italian plants.
