Abstract
The essay draws on the results of the ORIM-Lombardy survey carried out in 2010/11 with a structured questionnaire to a sample of pre-adolescents in multiracial classrooms at the lower secondary scholl (aged 11-14). The teens' viewpoint is taken into consideration for analysing correlations between: a) horizontal relationships (inside and ouside school); b) peer conflicts within inter-ethnic dynamics; 3) the "migrant tolerance Index", with the aim to test the hypothesis that despite the "challenging" school contexts, as in multi-ethnic classrooms, it can develop as well a positive attitude of "cosmopolitanism" among preadolescents
