Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Mentalization currently plays an important role in many adult psychotherapies. This book shows how conceptions of self-development and interpersonal relationships can help support the emotional well-being of children and adolescents both within clinical practice and in other contexts. With the contribution of international experts, including Peter Fonagy and Mary Target, the book explores the concept of mentalization from a theoretical point of view, the usefulness of interventions based on mentalization in child psychopathology services and the application of mentalization in contexts community and in schools. The text is of particular interest to clinicians and to those working in the therapeutic field with children and their families, but it is also addressed to teachers, researchers and students interested in the mental health of children and adolescents, to scholars of developmental psychology and social cognition.
