Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay reconstructs the cultural context in which Bernardo Buontalenti inserts his work as a mechanicus and engineer. His perspective and constructive knowledge can be traced back not only to the context of treatises on the subject of perspective, but also to the treaties of fortification and ballistics, which owe much to the application of Euclidean geometry for the construction of city walls in defense of the city and the elaboration of an art of illusion for an offensive and defensive purpose.
