Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The paper presents the procedures and the results of the stratigraphic study of the structures of the Roman theater of Ventimiglia. The analysis was carried out using the method typical of the archeology of architecture based on the identification, reading and interpretation of single constructive (positive USM) and destructive (negative USM) actions to try to grasp, on the basis of the data still present on the ground, a coherent sequence of existing realities. For this phase it was decided to treat the monument and the other structures emerging in the area as a context preserved over time in elevation, thus leaving aside the dynamics that led to its highlighting. With the aim of seeking new readings, creating new supports and simultaneously experimenting with new tools of restitution and methods of investigation, the analysis of the masonry stratigraphy was performed by applying what recently proposed for the stratigraphic reading of the elevations and up to that moment in any case generally little used in contexts prior to the late antique / medieval period and in structures in a state of ruin.
