Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The adjective vert (e), richly polysemic, is now experiencing an extraordinary expansion. The article first explores the meanings reviewed by the lexicographical tools, which show more recent meanings alongside the more "traditional" seeds, such as "here concerns the ecology, le mouvement écologique" and the substantive use of the Verts, which refers to the homonymous political party. Later, through examples taken from printed and electronic media, the unbridled linguistic creativity, often amusing and ironic, associated with verte attitude is illustrated. Alongside the neological productions for affixing with the bio- and éco (lo) prefixes, there are unpublished collocations such as croissance verte, cultural allusions and défigements, which allow us to see how contemporary langue verte corresponds only partially to that listed in the lexicographical tools.
