Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Globalization is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon, which embraces economic, but also political, social and demographic issues. On the one hand, globalization has helped bridge the gap between workers in advanced and developing economies, especially through the spread of technology. On the other hand, it has resulted in relocations and job losses. The most vulnerable sectors are characterized by a prevalence of low-skilled jobs. Globalization therefore exerts significant pressures on social protection systems, paving the way for an increase in inequality and an increase in poverty for the most vulnerable.
