La giovinezza: un nuovo stadio per l'educazione

[Autom. eng. transl.] The book brings together the Proceedings of the National Study Conference on "Youth: a new stadium for education", held in Brescia from 6 to 8 May 1999 on the initiative of the Pedagogy Department of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan and of the Center for Pedagogical Studies on Marriage and Family Life operating at the Brescia headquarters of the same University. The various contributions, of an interdisciplinary nature, highlight the urgency of an evaluation of youth as a favorable age for education. In this case, they solicit: the planning of specific training itineraries through which to favor the conquest of personal responsibility and commitment on the part of the new generations, in a corporate context aimed at enhancing the contingent and the immediate; the reformulation of intergenerational relations, in a life situation that seems to induce separation and extraneousness among the various sectors of the population; the transmission of values respectful of man and of what belongs to him, in a time inclined to cancel the historical-cultural memory and to privilege the relativity of existential meanings. Overall, education emerges as a privileged tool to support and help young people on the difficult path to adulthood, and then to start building the near future of society.
