La gestione delle risorse umane verso la sostenibilità

Translated title of the contribution: [Autom. eng. transl.] Human resource management towards sustainability

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

[Autom. eng. transl.] The article deals with the management of human resources from the point of view of sustainability, understood as voluntary attention to the social and environmental expectations of stakeholders. Starting from the model proposed by Ehnert (2009), in which objectives and initiatives are identified to integrate sustainability in the management of human resources, it was decided to verify the consensus of the managers with respect to the relevance of the elements of this model. A survey was conducted in 2010 involving 48 CSR managers and 41 HR managers of 50 companies belonging to the CSR Manager Network Italy. The data collected indicate how both categories of managers conceive sustainability as a strategic element, showing a concrete interest in its implementation as a central element of human resource management systems and integrating the corporate strategy. Among the different results highlighted by the research it should be noted that the processes of recruitment, selection and insertion of human resources, analysis and design of corporate roles and those connected to the health and physical well-being of workers are judged to be of secondary importance with a view to sustainability with respect to health and safety, training and internal communication. Finally, the data indicate a positive relationship between the importance given to the topic of sustainability in a strategic key and its relevance for human resource management processes.
