Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The unity of Christians was one of the great themes at the center of the Second Vatican Council. The article traces the path of contemporary ecumenism, highlighting how it was born in connection with events (conflicts, international crises, growing global interactions) that marked the contemporary age. The conciliar humanism was the point of arrival of a journey that led the Catholic Church to reflect on the common destiny of humanity and on the importance of Christian unity in the increasingly globalized international scenario.
