La formazione dell'insegnante di lingua

The essay is the sixth and final chapter of a book dedicated to the fundamentals of language teaching. It deals with the training of language teachers, with particular attention not only to the Italian legislation and its evolution before, during and after the "SSIS" (teacher training schools), but also to European recommendations. These ones, from the Lisbon Strategy onwards, have focused on the training of teachers, even proposing specific and detailed guidelines, such as the European Profile and the European Portfolio. The chapter ends with some reflections on the national impact of these guidelines and their possible use for implementing specific teacher training programs.
