Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Community mediation can be placed - fully - within the broader context of practices (community interventions, social network work, empowerment, etc.) that promote the well-being of the community. In particular, community mediation, placing itself at the heart of the dialectic between freedom and social control - as we will be able to explain later - constitutes a crucial tool for making the concept of corporate citizenship, understood as that set of rules of freedom, operational and of constraints that are neither in the simple individuals (as abstract subjects), nor in the systems, but in the social relation understood as reciprocal action, real and full between subjects. In Italy it is a form of intervention that is still poorly practiced, even if some interesting experiences are still present both at the level of the neighborhoods, and in the scholastic ambit. The experience in other countries is decidedly richer and more consolidated, which led in September 2000 to the realization of a European Seminar held in Créteil, where a first definition of social mediation was reached.
