Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] A long coastline on the shores of the Red Sea facing Saudi Arabia and Yemen and Sudan, Ethiopia and Djibouti inland. These are the political borders of both the first Italian colony of the Kingdom of Italy for 70 years, and the current borders of Eritrea, always a strategic region at the center of the trans-Saharan and maritime merchant routes. They are part of Eritrea the 126 beautiful and unspoiled islands in front of Massaua of the Dahlak archipelago - object of strong investments in luxury villas and resorts by Qatar - and some islands near the Hanish islands. Eritrea is a young state formed in 1993, multilingual and multicultural, with two religions: Sunni Islam and the Eritrean Orthodox Church, as well as nine groups that profess traditional African religions.
