Abstract
Confronted with a range of radical changes, the family as a social institution needs to find a new balance that can enhance its pedagogical role. Those parents who are trying to abandon old parenting models are still at a loss of new methods. With a view to making this uncertainty fruitful, it is necessary to think and create new relational modalities. For this reason, the family can be seen as a social laboratory where new relationships between men and women and between generations can be experimented. This implies acknowledging and embracing differences and reciprocity. Also, it means that adults bearing pedagogical responsibilities – essential for the very existence of society – need to restore reciprocal trust and try new forms of solidarity, modeled on broader community relationships.
