Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Brief introduction to the volume journey aimed at showing the dynamics through which the collective memory of a society is formed and the carriers that convey it. Starting from the specific case of the destruction of Milan in 1162, it traces the history of the perception of this event from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century, showing how it deeply influenced the formation of the collective identity of Milan, Italy and the German world.
