Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The present work is based on two kinds of considerations. On the one hand, the literature highlights the relevance of performance measurement and management systems not only in general, but also in healthcare and the public sector. On the other hand, given the centrality assumed by primary assistance, only a few studies have so far analyzed the performance measurement systems in this particular type of service. The study intends to contribute to this gap through a survey that has investigated, first of all, the diffusion of primary care performance measures and, secondly, the purposes and the ways in which they are used within healthcare companies local in our country. The results show that, given the good diffusion of the different types of performance, economic and financial measures, a significant number of companies do not use them frequently for different purposes and with the various ways in which it can be reasonably translated their use.
