Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The decoration of the apse base of the famous apse frescoed in the fourteenth century of the church of Sant'Abbondio in Como is presented. Not very visible, the lower register has a decoration made just after the middle of the fifteenth century, probably under the abbacy of Giovanni Pietro Visconti, and is characterized by showy graphic outlines with only a few touches of color. The preserved parts show that the theme had to be Christological and praising the kingship of the Messiah
