Abstract
Care relationships are based on a daily exercise of the senses that requires proper education and training. The capacity of seeing the patient in his/her existential dimensions, and not only as the bearer of a disease, is the first sensitive skill that a professional caregiver must learn and improve. Painting and visual arts can provide useful experiences in order to develop a phenomenology of sight and gaze and to cultivate the attitude to grasp narrative and symbolic dimension beyond inmediate appearances. This article present the experience of a training workshop focused on sharpening the ability to look at another person with depth of understanding and foresight.
