Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Ciro Spontone, long in service before Rodolfo Gonzaga di Castiglione and then of the Duke of Mantua, Vincenzo I, was also a political writer. His treatise "The Crown of the Prince", intertwines Platonism, Hermeticism and the Catholic raison d'être, translating into words the symbols of an ancient figurative tradition, and thus composing a metaphor of the virtues of the excellent prince.
