Abstract

Summary Pest management of Cydia pests in fruit orchards. Pest control issues related to the 3 most important species of the genus Cydia in fruit orchards are considered. Control strategies against these pests have to be developed and planned taking care of efficacy, environmental sustainability as well as of the levels of residues required by the modern retailing. Pheromone application is very important for monitoring and for pest control; the use of forecasting models can improve insecticide application timing, also considering their mode of action. Control strategies against Cydia pomonella in apple orchards, Cydia molesta in peach orchards and Cydia funebrana in plum orchards are discussed.
