Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The Lombardy Region, through regional law n.4 of 31 March 2022 "Lombardy belongs to the young", has established the Regional Observatory on Youth Conditions. Participating in this observatory are PoliS-Lombardia (Regional Institute for the support of Lombardy policies), the Toniolo Institute and the Applied Statistics Laboratory (LSA) of the Catholic University of Milan. Through this collaboration, the Observatory will carry out specific analyzes and insights on the condition of young people in Lombardy starting from information produced by Regionale Lombardia and from the data that the Youth Observatory of the Toniolo Institute collects during its analyses. This work will be accompanied by a process of analysis of the actions promoted by the Lombardy Region through tenders of public interest and aimed at the younger generations.
Below are presented some results relating to the first analyzes relating to the condition of young people in Lombardy, conducted on institutional data (e.g. Istat and Eurostat) as well as those coming from the PoliS-Swg 2023 survey on a sample of over 2000 young people from Lombardy aged between 16 and 34 years old. In particular, the main characteristics of the transition to adulthood of young people from Lombardy are described, starting from the school-work transition, to the acquisition of housing independence, to the decision to start a family, with a final in-depth analysis on the themes of uncertainty and social inclusion seen as factors that impact life planning.
