Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In January 1998 the telecommunications liberalization process was completed and since then, in our country, the work of the Communications Authority has been started. The Authority's task is to increase economic efficiency, reducing the barriers to competition and innovation that continue to exist even in a formally liberalized context. In fact, the power of the former monopolists tends to perpetuate itself over time as there are some elements of the market structure that guarantee them a power that not even the regulatory activity is able to affect in depth. This work analytically describes the main strategic behaviors adopted by Telecom Italia in relation to its rivals in the 2004-2013 period and evaluates them considering the temporal progress of the adopted strategies, the dynamics in the use of competitive levers and the interactions between the different strategic behaviors.
