Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay presents a hundred ancient coins from the Numismatic Collection of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan. The filing of the specimens - mostly of Roman emission, but also of other cultural areas - is accompanied by ample comments that insert the coins in their historical and numismatic context. Among the most significant pieces is a sestertius of Domitian from 95-96, with the depiction of a building, identified with the Domus Flavia: the issue is known in only three copies (RIC 799). A brief introduction outlines the characteristics of the ancient section of the Milanese collection.
