Abstract
This essay attempts to analyse the poetry "El apellido. Elegía familiar" by Nicolás Guillén. To this end, it draws on the reflections of Jung and Adler on the name as a mandate and continues with the considerations of Jacques Lacan, in association with Frantz Fanon, on the importance of language as an instrument for the perception of reality. It ends with a comparison between Heidegger's text on Hölderlin's poetry and the poem studied, and concludes with a proposal for an in-depth reading of Guillén's text.
