Abstract

This book offers a rich and complex teaching plan for Italian high-school teachers dealing with Jane Austen and 'Pride and Prejudice'. Moving from the premise of how literature and cinema are well related the one to the other, the book aims to give some useful materials to teachers and help them with the comparison between novel and film adaptations (the book examines Leonard's 1940 adaptation of the novel, Wright's 2005 version of the novel and Langton's 1995 BBC TV series). The book also provides teachers with activities, suggestions for in-depth studies and references (books, films, Web). Besides this, the contextualization of the novel provides teachers with cultural insights (houses, clothes, weddings,...) and analyses some modern adaptations of the novel in Bollywood and on the Web.
