Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Jacques Lecoq (1921 - 1999) actor, mime, pedagogue, founded the International Jacques Lecoq Theater School (École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq) in Paris; he is considered one of the most significant thinkers of contemporary theater. Lecoq is a poet of the teaching and his only book "The poetic body", fired in 1998 after forty years of teaching, is even partially - the testimony. Neither manual nor method, it is rather the attempt to restore the profound meaning of a search, of a thought, of its becoming, its creators doubts, its discoveries, its questions. It is a profound book, written in a seemingly simple language, and even where thought is almost inexpressible in words, one feels the effort to seek the greatest possible clarity. The continuous search for the roots of life, investigated through the use of the body and movement - "movement with a capital M!" as Jacques said - they feed the book and make it alive beyond the passing of time.
