Abstract
Kantian morality is considered a kind of ethics that rejects desire. Paul Ricoeur, in a (philosophical) debate with Kant’s works, on the contrary, supported the possibility of an integration between rationality and desire.
The article intends to call into question the irrationality of desire as It states the importance of integrating it into rationality. It suggests, first of all, an analysis of Kant’s works thus to consider how deeply the German philosopher, beyond all simplifications, deals with the theme of desire. Secondly, the article in question dwells on the interpretation of Kant given by Ricoeur.
Finally, it suggests some of his thoughts, highlighting the relevance of the synergy between desire and rationality, which opens important questions with regard to knowledge, feelings and ethical acts.
