Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay consists in the 'Introduction to the author' of the 'Memoirs of the Ambrosiana Library' published in Milan in 1618 and among the very first documents on the foundation of the meritorious Milanese institute. These pages offer an initial overview of the life and works of the Lombard writer, among the trusted collaborators of Archbishop Federico Borromeo. Professor of rhetoric at the major seminary and theologian of the cathedral of Tortona, according to current studies, he owes, in addition to the history of the library, a booklet published in 1620 on the miraculous source of St. Barnabas and some verses within the work of the French Augustinian Leonard Coqueau (1616). To this is added a participation, as a commendation, within the silloge entitled 'Of the tribulations and its remedies' (1624), the work of the bishop writer Paolo Aresi.
