Abstract
This essay includes these contents: Objectives of the book and targets; The pandemic spread In Italy and the responses of government and Ministry of education; The Italian education system as regards recent performances and public investments (compared with Eu means); Some key concepts to interpret empirical data (risk/danger distinction; emergency and uncertainty; trauma and resistance; fear-anxiety and solidarity as factors of cohesion): Impacts of the lockdown on educational provision in all sectors (drawn from data); the different responses to the crisis at both levels, punctual and systemic (drawn from data); Open issues for future and recommendations . Lessons for other countries.
