Abstract

The present Introduction to “Israel and the Cosmological Empires of the Ancient Orient: Symbols of Order in Eric Voegelin’s ‘Order and History’, Vol. I” gives account of the thematic cores of the individual contributions collected in the volume, inserting them into a wider table of reference that explains, on the one hand, the origin and goal of “Israel and Revelation”, and on the other the principles treated by the Old Testament hermeneutics it delineates.
