[Autom. eng. transl.] The interview with Margherita Ulrych focuses on the relationship between memory, language and translation. The functional interdependence that associates these three concepts and the fundamental importance of the notion of memory in any form of mediated communication is underlined. The mediated texts undergo rewriting processes and are reproductions or representations of pre-existing texts. One of the elements of specificity of memory research and translation lies in the relationship between the source text and the target text. This is a relationship that can take a variety of intralinguistic and interlinguistic forms, in which the target text somehow preserves the memory of the source text. In this sense the translator's task is a work of negotiating memory.
