Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Home interior. Exhibitions in the apartment 1972-2013 is a trip to private homes that, for a day or only for a few hours, host contemporary art exhibitions. The book stems from the curiosity to understand the reasons for this encounter between art and domestic spaces. Retracing its historical and geographical roots, identified in the seventies, it is proposed to document many experiences, Italian and international, which would risk, due to their intimate and informal nature, to be forgotten. The narration and the memory are accompanied by a specific sociological and aesthetic reading of the work of art suggested by the domestic context. This study is imagined as a house: the floor is the useful theoretical basis for reading the works, around the kitchen table we welcomed many guests who told their exhibitions and someone sent postcards that we stuck on the refrigerator. If "the house allows us to dream in peace", as Bachelard wrote, art in the home is the perfect condition for the dream to become reality.
