Abstract
The dramatic event that shook London in July 2005 has stirred up a
debate that, for decades, has been rehearsing concepts like hybridity,
multiethnic scenarios and images of multicultural worlds. While the
academic-driven, media-fed focus on such issues has always been high and
profitable, the local contexts characterised by such phenomena have been
worryingly neglected, together with their political and ideological
implications.
