Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) is the point of arrival, applied to the case of the Arabic language, of a long evolution of the glotto-didactics that led to the development of teaching methods and techniques, based on the results of research in the field of psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics. The teaching methods relating to the TAFL are part of the communicative approach that revolutionized language teaching in the 1970s. In this article, we describe the basics and some techniques of a new methodological approach to teaching Arabic, developed specifically for Italian-speaking learners based on an analysis of their common mistakes, conceived and tested in teaching developed at the Catholic University of Milan. An approach that involves all oral and written skills, to encourage the most adequate and effective training in the study of Arabic language and culture.
