Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The database that is presented in this volume is the result of a work of integration between statistical and administrative information sources. Starting from the Community Innovation Survey, information on the innovative performance of companies has been cross-referenced with the quantitative figures of the statutory financial statements, thus offering the possibility of investigating the impacts of the variegated innovative processes, in particular, with respect to income capacity (profitability) and dynamics labor productivity. Understanding these aspects is further strengthened by the availability of indicators that highlight the financial structure of companies and, therefore, their relative risk exposure. The distinctive element of this database is to consider a sufficiently long period (10 years) to capture the evolution of the structural characteristics of the Italian and Lombard manufacturing system. The volume also presents a territorial articulation that is able to further highlight some qualifying elements of the Italian manufacturing production system and, that is, the ability to create synergies both on the local territorial level, and on a national and international scale. Overall, therefore, the data base that has been collected and described here represents a qualifying tool both to stimulate scientific research and to provide that information support that is increasingly indispensable for making appropriate economic policy choices.
