Abstract

Under the policy taken by the papal curia against heresy, the experiences in the Midi show the flexibility of Innocent III than its predecessors. Reconciliations with Durand of Osca and his brothers, as well as that with Bernard Prim only two years later, demonstrating the interest of the pope to have employees "new" to counter effectively the heresy. The examination of the 'professiones fidei' of the two groups allows us to grasp the articulated relationship between the Apostolic See and the local episcopate, along with the attempt the attempt to accord their form of life to the traditional rules.
