Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] For some time it has been believed that children in the city have specific needs and development potential, linked to the living conditions and culture they absorb in a metropolitan environment. In the wake of international Recommendations and national guidelines for the curriculum addressed to the 0-6 age group, we are witnessing a decisive impulse towards the introduction of theatrical languages in childcare services, because they are useful for developing imagination, cooperation, creativity and enhancing spontaneous learning in each child, beyond the disparities of origin. But what is the actual contribution that performative languages give in the direction of quality of service and child well-being? The volume is the result of the reflection by professors and researchers of the Catholic University of Milan, on the sidelines of a research-intervention carried out in kindergartens and nursery schools of the Municipality of Milan in 2014 (a project financed with funds L.285). The research aims to demonstrate that theatrical languages - intended as dramaturgical play, show, workshop and party - both those practiced in the ordinary dimension and those brought by theatrical operators, add to the usual practice of childcare something more and different. The parents' perspective is compared to that of the educators and that of the theater operators involved in the project. And we come to understand how the "natural" relationship between theater language, child and corporeality, contributes to reinforcing the self-representation of children, as actors-authors-spectators, the professionalism of the educational staff in turn actor- author-researcher and parental involvement.
