Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] As is known, «Il Cannocchiale aristotelico» (1654) already shows in its oxymoronic title that encounter between experimental science and
Renaissance philosophical tradition that characterizes the so-called 'Baroque age'. Today, thanks to new and deeper proposals of
reading the works of Tesauro, it is possible to trace not only the scientific and philosophical interests of the writer, but also to provide concrete
information on the books he read and on their use. In this intervention we intend to reconstruct how, during the drafting of the work
principal, Tesauro drew on a culture learned in his attendance both at the Jesuit colleges and at the Turin court of the
Savoy. The critical heart of the speech consists in demonstrating how in the very form of the text, rhetorically highly studied, Tesauro
intends to welcome, in a new narrative order, the scientific elements on which it drew and from which a
renewed image of the world.
